It's been eight months since I took off my 18" Prodive P1 wheels and I finally bit the bullet and bought new tires. Khumo Ecsta SPT 225/40/18s. They're amazingly quiet with an insane amount of grip in both wet and dry conditions. Special thanks go out to Alex for the hook-up. We swapped some cash plus my expertise to install some WRX struts and STI springs on his FXT. The car is finally coming together.

Finally, my entire interior backlighting conversion from green to blue is complete. The Blue LEDs are in the stereo, HVAC, cruise control button, and fog light switch. I bought Racing Dash blackface overlays for the cluster which has a dimmer switch and color converter which switches back and forth from green to blue. When I installed the overlays, I finally wired the Faze gauge Morpher which controls the backlighting for my boost and oil temp gauges. I tapped into the back of the clock for all of it, and plan on posting the FAQ for anyone who is interested. Also, while I had the cluster apart, I put in a brushed aluminum bezel trim. It all works and looks sweet. And I couldn't be happier with the results.

Update on the downpipe: The power has been slowly climbing everyday. Obviously my ECU has been operating in the upper level maps with increase A/F ratios through most of the cars life and when I reset the ECU I ended up dumbing it down so to speak. My baseline dyno numbers from last year can attest to how well it was performing compared to other stock WRXs at the time. The best guesses were that my car has been performing consistantly in the higher Ignition Advance Multiplier numbers which allowed me to net better dyno numbers averaging 15 hp above stock at the wheels. So resetting the ECU rolled it back to stock and it's just taking this long to bring it back up to the higher Ignition Advance Multiplier numbers. This quote from Shiv at could explain it better:

"There is something called 'Ignition Advance Multiplier'. It represents, by some complicated algorithm, the average learned positive knock correction applied to the ignition maps. It's represented in 1/8th degrees increments. 1 being the lowest and 16 being the highest (1/8 to 2 degrees in absolute terms). The "happier" (knock free) the car is, the higher the number will be. Conversely, the lower it is, the more knock prone it is. This number, after ECU reset ore ECU swap defaults to 8 and usually creeps up to 16 (if well mapped) through normal driving. Depending on driving characteristics, this can happen within a few hours or a few weeks."

The Bosal Downpipe was installed today. What a royal PITA! I broke half of the heat shield bolts and spent way too much time with everything that I didn't have enough time to get my gutted uppipe installed :( Oh well. But that isn't the worst of it. It seams I actually lost some power intially, so I started a thread on NASIOC. There is a lot of good information there if anyone is interested.

I got the JDM red trimed Impreza/WRX and carbon fiber STI Type RA badges installed today. They look 100% better than the blue USDM badges in my opinion Now only if I can find the S202 badges I've been looking for ;)

The Bosal Downpipe was finally waiting for me when I got home from work today. Hooray! I picked it up used, but it's in great condition. It just needs a little TLC and some polishing. Yeah, I'm anal. Time to gut the uppipe and get these puppies installed. I'll need a resistor for the uppipe and the gasket and bung extension for the downpipe. I can't wait.

I picked up a rare JDM/EDM STI wagon front lip. I took some pictures last week and I'm hoping to get them up here soon. I cannot wait to get this on the car. But first I need to pick up some other things that I would like to have painted and installed all at once. I plan on taking my old silver interior trim and having it all painted sonic yellow, as well as the side skirts. I also just bought a Zerosports front grille and Aerosync mudguards which should get here soon.

The Bosal downpipe should be shipping out soon from someone local. It's used, and I'll need to clean it up a little but I have nothing but optimism about its output. I'll do the install after I get the OEM uppipe I picked up last month gutted. I am pumped to see how much faster and harder the turbo will spool. I'll keep you posted.

I'm looking to get either the taller JDM STI scoop or the 04-05 style scoop. I may have found a source for the 04-05 style on eBay, but we'll see how that works out. If you have one and you're looking to get rid of it, feel free to reach out and let me know.
